Unlike conventionally grown coffee, organic coffee is grown without the use of chemicals or other unnatural solutions for pest control. Instead, organic farmers take advantage of the renewable resources to which they have access when combating naturally occurring pests and other problems. By utilizing biological control of these pests, farmers are able to protect the quality of their water and soil, ensuring a healthy environment for generations to come. This approach focuses on building healthy soil through composting, terracing, and inter-cropping, instead of fertilizing with synthetic chemicals.
The term certified organic means that a government-approved certifier inspects the path of the coffee from the nursery, to the mountainside, to the mill to insure that organic standards are upheld during every step on its way to the US. Additionally, our roastery and cafes are inspected and certified annually to ensure that you receive the purest, best-tasting cup of 100% organic coffee you’ve ever had.
All of the coffees that we source, roast, brew, and sell are certified organic. Why is organically grown coffee so important to us at Heine Brothers’ Coffee? We believe that great tasting coffee is grown naturally and in the traditional fashion- under the shade of taller trees on the steep slopes of volcanoes or on mountain foothills in countries like Guatemala, Peru, and Ethiopia. We think that the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides only take away from the purity of coffee, and adds nothing desirable to the taste. After your first sip of our totally organically grown coffee, we think you’ll agree that an all-natural approach is best.
