Barista Highlight: Tameira Edwards
Meet Tameira Edwards, this month’s barista spotlight! Read below to get to know your Douglass Loop barista, Tameira.
How long have you been at Heine Brothers’?: I started Heine Brothers April 12th, 2019.
Where are you from?: I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio but grew up in Louisville, Kentucky.
What is your favorite Heine Brothers’ drink?: I have been known to put a twist to my shift drinks. Recently I’ve been feeling the Brambleberry Boost with Peach Phocus and Peach syrup sooo good (IT’S NOT EVEN A BRAMBLEBERRY ANYMORE). I also really enjoy a Caramel Vanilla Cream with Oat Milk, so good.
What is your favorite Heine Brothers’ food/snack?: I really enjoy the cheddar chive scones and lemon poppy seed muffins.
What is your favorite thing about working at Heine Brothers’?: I love the job of customer service. I really enjoy giving suggestions to drinks and they end up really liking the drink I offer. I really enjoy customer interactions altogether.
Why did you want to work for Heine Brothers’?: During my sophomore year in high school I did barista training with Heine Brothers. Taking a couple of culinary students and training them to be baristas. Before the training was over I applied to be a Barista and I got the job right after the training was over with.
What other hobbies do you have?: I’m currently taking classes at Sullivan University for Baking and Pastry full time. I used to be very involved in extracurricular activities in high school like KUNA/KYA, volleyball, softball, and I qualified for Kentucky’s Girls State 3rd place among other things.
Fun fact?: I have been one of the longest working baristas at my location but have always been the youngest of them all.
What is your favorite music to listen to at work?: My music taste is very diverse, I love to listen to Westlife, an Irish band from the 90s in the morning. But, during my recent closes I’ve been jamming to K-POP group Seventeen.
What do you think makes Heine Brothers’ unique in comparison to other coffee shops?: I don’t know much about other local coffee shops but, my location is always striving to have great relationships with our customers and baristas. I really enjoy working at my location because with us being a non-drive thru we have more time to create a friendly bond with our regulars. I get really excited to see regulars and have their drinks ready for them once they order. They are always surprised that I remember their drinks. Other coffee shops won’t have the great customer service you’ll receive at Douglass Loop.
Make sure to stop by Douglass Loop and say hi to Tameira!
