HB-Chenoweth Lane’s exterior received an update in Spring 2014, and to follow up we’re renovating the interior next week! The cafe will be closed from Monday, November 3 2014 through Sunday, November 9 2014, and will reopen at 6am on Monday, November 10th. For the convenience of our customers, the drive-thru will remain open throughout the week. HB-Chenoweth Lane was our third location, opened in 1997, and after 17 years it is time for a significant update. We’re excited to show you what we have planned – be sure to stop in after the cafe is reopened to see the new shop!

We’re excited to finally announce that we’re opening our first Southern Indiana location! HB-Veteran’s Parkway will open in late 2014 / early 2015 right off of I-65, on the corner of Veteran’s Parkway and Town Center Blvd in Jeffersonville, IN. We have many existing customers and employees who come from the Hoosier state, and can’t wait to bring our fair-trade & organic coffee, excellent customer service, and deliciously-beautiful drinks to Indiana.
Our new location will feature a spacious cafe and patio, along with a convenient drive-thru, and will be managed by our previous HB-Westport Village manager Katt McGinley. We’re working with studio threesixty on design and Koetter Construction as the general contractor, and we’ll begin accepting applications for employment shortly.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Heine Brothers’ Confirms New Location in Southern Indiana; Announces “Extreme Makeover” Plans for Chenoweth Lane Location
Louisville, Ky. (October 27, 2014) – Louisville-based Heine Brothers’ Coffee (Heine Brothers’), which is celebrating its 20th Anniversary this month, confirmed today its first location in Southern Indiana. The new Heine Brothers’ will open in late 2014 or early 2015 at 1475 Veteran’s Parkway, Suite 102 in Jeffersonville, Indiana, 47130.
According to Mike Mays, Heine Brothers’ President, “We are excited to expand the Heine Brothers’ experience to Southern Indiana and create yet another neighborhood gathering place. This location has easy access to I-65 at Exit 5 and is only five miles from the bridge, and it is surrounded by many neighborhoods and other retail. For those familiar with the area, we will be in the space beside the AT&T store, which already includes a great patio with garage doors opening up to the patio. This shop also will include a drive-thru for added convenience.”
With the recently announced closing of the Westport Road location, this Southern Indiana location will become Heine Brothers’ 13th location. The current Westport Village manager has accepted the position of store manager for Jeffersonville.
In addition, Heine Brothers’ will temporarily close the interior café of its location at 119 Chenoweth Lane in St. Matthews for a one-week “extreme makeover.” The café will close on Sunday, November 2, 2014 and reopen on Monday, November 10, 2014 but the drive-thru will remain open during the renovation.
“Chenoweth Lane was our third location and it opened in 1997, so after 17 years it is time for a significant update,” added Mays. “The good news is that the drive-thru will remain open during the entire renovation so our customers can still get their favorite coffee and drinks all week.”
Heine Brothers’ also recently announced the launch of its new customer loyalty app, Heine Brothers’ Perks. Customers can now leave their wallets at home and pay with their phones, earning rewards along the way. For every $50 spent using the app, you’ll receive $3 toward your next purchase. Plus, you get $2 just for signing up.

Heine Brothers’ is honored to be awarded the 2014 Corporate Lucy Award from the Family Scholar House! Being a good corporate citizen is a core principle at Heine Brothers’, and has been since our beginnings in 1994. After 20 years, we’re proud to be able to still give back every chance that we can. Keynote Speaker Dr. Tererai Trent gave an inspirational address, and we’re proud to be connected to the Family Scholar House who does such great work in our community.
The Family Scholar House is a nonprofit organization here in Louisville. Its mission is to end the cycle of poverty by giving single-parent students the support that they need to earn a four-year college degree. By transitioning student-parents from poverty to self-sufficiency they are able to provide a better life for themselves and their children. 86% of their participants graduate college, and 90 days after, 70% are employed and off every government subsidy. Family Scholar House now has 3 residential campuses in the Louisville area, as well as another in Pikeville, KY.

Heine Brothers’ is proud to host the Cooperative Coffees Annual General Meeting here in Louisville this week! We have 50 people coming in to Louisville from all over the US and Canada to attend this meeting. There is a lot to get done – coffee cuppings, reviewing financials and board elections, discussing trips to origin, decision-making and next steps – but we’re going to make sure that they have a great time while in Louisville as well. Local businesses & events on the agenda are some of the best Louisville has to offer, including Garage Bar, the Muhammad Ali Center, Against The Grain, the Galt House, WFPK’s Waterfront Wednesday, the Green Building, Patrick O’shea’s, the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, ReSurfaced, and more.
In 1999, Heine Brothers’ Coffee became a founding member of Cooperative Coffees, Inc., a member-owned importer of fairly traded and organically grown green coffee, with six other micro-roasters in the United States and Canada. Today Cooperative Coffees, Inc. includes 24 specialty coffee roasters located across North America. Over the last decade, Co-op Coffees has imported millions of pounds of coffee – all directly from small scale farmer cooperatives.
Heine Brothers’ and Cooperative Coffees are committed to supporting and partnering with small-scale, Fair Trade coffee farmers and their exporting cooperatives. By importing directly from farmer partners, Cooperative Coffees seeks to foster a more equitable system of coffee trade that directly benefits these farmers, their families and their communities.
Besides roasters, we’re also happy to have two coffee producers in town for the meeting:
- Antonio Ruiz of Maya Vinic in Chiapas, Mexico
- Mario Lopez of Las Marias 93 in El Salvador

In late 2012 we started working with a local marketing group on several projects – strADegy Advertising. After talking to a few groups, and a few of their customers, we chose them mainly because we clicked – they are small, fun, creative, and really get who we are. Since then, we have had several events, launched a new website (you are on it now – it is amazing, right?), a new logo (stays true to our roots, but updated with who we are), a new hot cup (with an insane design that tells our story, from seed to cup), some new shirts, and have more coming in the future (our new coffee bag will blow you away – coming up in February!). We’ve been tremendously impressed with the creative work that strADegy has put in with us, and we’re proud that they have been recognized by others in Louisville for their work!
The Louisville Graphic Design Association’s 24th annual 100 Show was held earlier this month, and strADegy won a couple of awards with our projects! Congrats to them, and stay tuned for some more great work from this young, creative group! View all of the winners in the interactive guide.
