Mountain Dream Sales to Benefit KY Mountains and Families

In News // on December 27th, 2009 // by // No comment

What is so special about Mountain Dream?

Our award-winning house blend is spicy, packed with a stout dose of body, and a bright medium acidity. This blend of coffees from Nicaragua and Sumatra is a perfectly rich melding of two of the world’s finest brews. In addition to being one of the tastiest coffees you’ve ever tried, you can feel extra good about buying this blend because 50 cents from the sale of each bag is donated to Kentuckians For The Commonwealth to further their efforts to end mountaintop removal in our state.

What is Kentuckians For The Commonwealth?

Kentuckians for the Commonwealth KFTC is a statewide citizens organization working for a new balance of power and a just society. As we work together we build our strength, individually and as a group, and we find solutions to real life problems. We use direct action to challenge—and change—unfair political, economic and social systems. Our membership is open to all people who are committed to equality, democracy and non-violent change. Find out more at www.kftc.org

Your Role is Vital

At Heine Brothers’ Coffee, we’ve learned that when we work together, positive things can happen. We’d love for you to partner with us and KFTC to make the state of Kentucky a healthier place to live. Next time you have the need to buy coffee, pick up a bag of Mountain Dream and be assured that your purchase is making a world of difference, right here in our home state.

New Citrus Green Tea!

In News // on November 5th, 2009 // by // No comment

Recently, we’ve been on the hunt for fair trade and organic versions of some of the conventionally grown teas we now serve. The good news is that the following loose leaf teas will soon be both fairly traded and organically grown: China Keemun, India Assam, Darjeeling, China Yunnan, and Honeybush. Yay!

In addition to these teas, we are introducing a new green tea into our extensive list of amazing teas. Next week, you’ll be able to try this tasty new tea, Citrus Green. Citrus green has a lovely light and airy flavor. Its not “too green” in taste, so its worth tasting, especially if you’re not a fan of green teas. A tangy citrus flavor is obvious from the first sip, but the subtle apricot, peach and ginger flavors are detected later in the cup. What a wonderful tea! This one is gonna be a new favorite!

Photos from our 15th Birthday!!!

In News // on October 19th, 2009 // by // No comment

Happy Birthday On October 16th, despite the rain and temperatures that topped out in the 40s, we held a street party on Longest Avenue to celebrate 15 years of business in Louisville. The tiny cafe on Longest Avenue at Bardstown Rd. opened its doors for the first time in October of 1994. Fifteen years later, we are still serving coffee to some of the same customers from those early days. We are so proud to be a part of the diverse landscape of local businesses that our city has to offer. Thank you for allowing us this opportunity!
